EMS In Record Time - The XRM solution by nVisionIT in 6 weeks for the world cup 2010

The need for reliable EMS management solutions in South Africa is paramount to the success of emergency response. nVisionIT has built and successfully delivered a broad EMS solution offering that addresses local challenges head on. Existing solutions fail to address, core challenges in this space that are unique to local conditions these include:

  • The need for a simple to operate yet highly responsive UI that mirrors the  locally defined EMS management processes.
  • The ability to deal with severe bandwidth, power, and telecommunications constraints often faced by local government.
  • A feasible price point  

The solution built by nVisionIT solves these challenges head on. The solution is effectively an xRM implementation which entails the use of Dynamics CRM and ASP.Net as the primary components.

Dynamics CRM  servers as the core solution back end, providing call handling, call dispatch and triage workflows. The CRM resourcing capabilities are utilised to manage ambulance and user scheduling. Finally, Dynamics CRM 4.0 provides they key capabilities including user management, security, reporting and data management. The custom ASP.Net User Interface is provisioned on top of the CRM platform, to provide the users with a very simple, highly responsive interface.  

Integrated into the solution is a commercial vehicle tracking component, providing the EMS solution with the ability to track and report on ambulance location.

The key goals for this project were:

  • A robust reliable solution, that must perform in trying conditions
  • An easy to use responsive  user interface
  • An integrated vehicle tracking system
  • A rapid implementation timeframe from requirements to implementation in under 6 weeks

The following highlights some of the key successes within the implementation:

  • The entire solution from concept to implementation including end user training was implemented for our initial customer in under 6 weeks, in time for the Football World Cup 2010.
  • A simple to use UI which follows the actual business processes from call taking through to dispatch and follow-up
  • The ability to manage multiple resources (ambulances) and calls across 3 regions
  • The ability for the solution to provide high availability in the event of an office’s phone lines or power or other key facilities going down, another office can simply take over the call management.
  • Extensive workflow functionality has provided the business with the knowledge that all processes are well managed and escalations are timeous.
